Adidas and Parley continue their partnership in a bid to save the ocean
After beginning their partnership in 2015 with a partially 3D printed shoe, Adidas and Parley, an organisation dedicated to reducing plastic in our oceans, have teamed up once again. Their work to protect our oceans continues with a collection of trainers and swimwear made entirely of recycled ocean plastics.
Last November saw the collaboration launch with 7,00 pairs of limited edition pairs of trainers based on Adidas’ Ultraboost Uncaged design. The German sports brand have committed to making 1 million pairs of their Ultraboost with Parley Ocean Plastic™ by the end of 2017, but this is only the beginning of a long term commitment.
Kicking off (excuse the pun) with eco-jerseys for two of the biggest football teams in Europe, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, Adidas has also expanded their use of sustainable materials with a swimwear line for men and women. The collection is not only cool and contemporary, but considers the people dedicated to the water. “The Econyl® yarn is woven into a high-quality, hard-wearing and high-performance material. It’s like magic. Recycling that does something.”
With the ultimate aim to completely eliminate new plastics from their manufacturing process, we’re excited to know this is only the beginning.
